Hewatele (Oxgen Manufacturer)

In 2013, an assessment in Western Kenya showed that hospitals in the region had a huge need for oxygen. Hospitals had to go collect oxygen cylinders from Kisumu, with limited funds and transport while patients await or others even died.

In partnership with the Siaya District Hospital, GE Foundation, Frog Design and Center for Public Health and Development( CPHD) teamed up and the first Hewatele Oxygen Plant was founded on September 2014.

The plant is fully operational since then and distributes oxygen in over ten countries reaching more than 3 million people in Western Kenya.

Hewatele Oxygen Plants

Hewatele utilizes the Hub and Spoke Model to determine where to set up oxygen plants. This system ensures that each production plant can efficiently serve several counties within its 150 km radius, all within a 2-hour delivery timeline.

The Siaya plant serves all facilities within the western, Nyanza, and Trans Nzoia zones. The Nakuru plant is set up to serve much of the North Rift areas and parts of Central Kenya.

The Nairobi plant takes care of the larger Nairobi market and also supplements Central Kenya and the Ukambani zone.

The Plants are Listed Below:

Siaya Plant

This inaugural plant was launched in 2014 by the First Lady Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta, the plant was set up as a PPP between GE Foundation, Hewatele, CPHD, and Siaya County. The plant currently serves over 10 Counties with oxygen and oxygen accessories.
