Is the New Proposal a deal for Raila Odinga and Martha Karua?
After the loss of the Presidential Seat in the last general elections, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Leaders have been on the move seeking answers for their loss.
Having no slot in the National government has given them sleepless nights and holding meetings to solve their dilemma via involving public participation.
This has hit President Dr.William Ruto and his Deputy hard and is on the verge of making things work well for Kenyans.
President Dr. William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance, therefore, are on the move to amend the constitution to create an office for the opposition leaders.
The Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s latest proposal is to have the presidential 2nd runners-up person join the National Assembly as the Minority leader while the running mate fills in the Senate slot.
In an interview with Ntv the former National Assembly Speaker, Mr. Muturi said that the proposal shall increase both houses by one. Raila Odinga and Martha Karua enjoying funding from the Parliamentary Service Commission(PSC).
If the new proposal sails through, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party Leader Raila Odinga will make a return to the National Assembly while Martha Karua will head to the Senate.
Mr. Muturi argued that the new proposal is the only way to ensure that the country has a true opposition in place.
According to Mr.Muturi, ”The second in the last general election can take the Minority Leader in the National Assembly and the Senate, the number will increase to 350 in the National Assembly and to 68 in the Senate”.
